Automatic Rod Packing Lines are used in cold drawing mills. They take loose rods, count them precisely (using magnetic or optical counters), align their ends, and form tight circular or hexagonal bundles. The straps are applied with high tension to prevent rods from sliding out ("telescoping") during transport.
